HISTORY OF MUSLIM
FOUNDATION.
Muslim Foundation was
founded in the year 1980 in the Basement of Dr. Syed Manzoor Rizvi’s House
in Bloomfield by a group of people who had the wisdom and love for Islam
and had the insight that the future lies in getting together and
developing cooperation, love and affection between different members of
the community. The first Constitution of MFI was signed by under mentioned
stalwarts and was incorporated on December 10,1981.

Whereas Brother
Nasir
Shamsi did not sign this constitution, he was actively involved right from
the beginning and made a valuable contribution particularly in the
publications wing of MFI.
OBJECTIVE OF THE
ORGANIZATION.
The primary objective of
the organization has been to promote life of all Muslims (particularly
followers of Jafri faith) in accordance with divine laws for the well
being of the community and to achieve peaceful co-existence and harmony
with other ethnic groups and followers of other faiths living in USA.
ACTIVITIES.
To move towards
attainment of these objectives it was considered necessary to first
promote activities that will bring the “individuals” to a single platform
where they could be woven into a community. Progress in this respect was
mainly achieved by publication of Books and Magazines. Over a period of
20 years, 26 books were published in English, many of which are used by
the teachers as well as students in the Sunday Schools. Some of these
could be read in the libraries and on the Internet. In addition, a popular
quarterly magazine, The Message of Peace (Pyam-e-Aman) was published for
over a decade.
Books have been sent over the past two decades to the correction
facilities, to help disseminate message of Islam to the prisoners.
MFI organized “Husain
Day” for 24 years to let people of all faith; beliefs and religions have
the correct image of Islam. Imam Husain A.S stood up alone to eliminate
corruption and reform the society and in the process sacrificed his life
and that of his children but did not comprise with the tyrant Rulers and
Warmongers. This has become an example for all nations Muslims as well and
non-Muslims. By observing this day MFI was able to bring to the platform
speakers from all religions and Local and State officials.
A variety of interfaith meetings, religious and educational seminars and
other social events are arranged to promote better understanding and
harmony between people of different ethnic groups.
Youth camps are also
arranged to enable them to interact with each other and develop qualities
of leadership and motivate to higher goals in life.
MOSQUE.
Raising a Mosque has
always been one of the objectives of MFI. It was not possible however to
make sufficient progress (primarily due to involvement in other
activities) in this respect until April 1998
when a new constitution was adopted and several new members were added to
the Board of Directors. The new team was able to purchase the (existing)
land and a house thereon (within three years) in the year 2002, after
having taken a loan of $400,000. This was paid off within three years in
the year 2005 having followed a very strict financial discipline.
Mosque is our identity and by the Grace of
Allah SWT the foundation of MASJID E ALI was laid on September 9, 2006
(immediately following the date our beloved Imam AKHRI e ZAMAN was born).
MFI had seen this day after 26 years of their efforts. The new team was
however fortunate to have reached this day of joy and thanks, to their
Creator, within 8 years.
MFI’s strength lies in
its very democratic Constitution. It helps to bring in the right people to
the right job through regular elections held every three years.
